LAKME 9-to-5 Eyeshadow Quads. |
LAKME has a great line of makeup, especially their 9-to-5 range. On my recent visit to India i picked up two quads from this range and today's review is going to be about them. The quads are priced at 500 rupees a pop (phew!) that's around $8.50. The packaging is so-so, comes in an average plastic packaging with snap-shut lid, which is a pretty legit one doesn't budge a bit.
LAKME says 'These versatile quartets of vivid, high-intensity powders give your eyes a defined, fierce finish. The radiant color and shimmer particles shape and highlight your eyes to give you that professional edge. Use the lighter shades for office wear and darker shades for your night look. Feel free to mix the shades to create new looks everyday.'
The Quads are very easy to use, as with every quad a description of how-to use them is shown at the back. All the quads are suited for Indian skintone and are very versatile. I will say that the respective eyeshadow's do need a little warming up first because they are a little hard at first touch. I got two shades from the range.
LAKME Eyehsadow Quad 'TANJORE RUSH'. |
First one is called 'TANJORE RUSH' and it reminded me off the 'Peacock Quad' from a few years back from Lakme, when they had first introduced the 'QUADS'. I had gone crazy looking for them , that particular quad was sold out everywhere, i had told my sister's/friends in every corner of India to look for them, finally my boyfriend (now my husband) found them at a mall in Bangalore and i told him to pick up two of them at once! That was my crazy story for this color-quad. I just loved the colors so much and it was a well loved quad for many years to come.. :)
Coming back to the colors, so we have satin-pearl finish eyeshadows in all the quads. This one has:-
Purple
Moss Green
Dark Bronze
Muted Gold

The other one i picked up is leaning more towards the 'bronze-family'. Its called 'Desert Rose'. This one was an impulse buy because as soon as i saw it i just knew i had to have it! Its got a good melody of colors in it.
LAKME Eyeshadow Quad 'DESERT ROSE'. |
The colors in this quad are:
Muted Yellow-Gold
Frosty Peachy-Pink
Rusty Orangy-Bronze
Rusty Deep Red

Now both these quads are very simple to play around with, color-wise and one can come out with some very easy-to-wear and everyday looks with them. I loved the fact that both have neutral bronze/gold shades in there, which are perfect for balancing out any eyeshadow-look.
All in all i have always had a soft spot for Lakme as their's was the first makeup that i had ever used and their products are good, i wouldn't say out of this world but yes they are good but for the money we spend on them we might as well add some more and go to MAC or any other high-end brand. I prefer INGLOT more compared to LAKME nowadays.
These Quads are good though and in my experience lakme quads are generally worth it. I would totally recommend these to anybody wanting to get shades that are neutral with a pop of color here and there.
