Bronzers are a good way to compensate for the lack of a holiday! To find the correct shade is often difficult as our skintones (knowing your undertone is of importance here) define the undertone of bronzer we go for. An ideal middle ground bronzer would be a true taupe-ish/brown shade (a color which mimics the shade and warms up the skin at the same time) but to find that in the drugstore is very very difficult. To get a more bronzed look, a bronzer with gold-brown tone is good. Having said that, all this obviously depends on your personal preference. The general rule of thumb is to choose a color which is 1-2 shades darker than your skintone.
Myself, i like both the versions, the taupes are good for a more defined contoured+bronzed look and the gold+brown ones are good for an overall sun kissed look. Today's review is about a bronzer which is somewhere in the middle.
The SOLAR POWDER by Soap n Glory is a good med-level (both money & shade wise) bronzer available in the market now. Why i mentioned the shade as a criteria in the above statement is because this bronzer comes with a light brown & a dark brown color. So for those lazy days just use the lighter one or swirl the brush around to mix the 2 shades together & for days you want to go for the 'bronze goddess' look use the darker shade for bronzing & highlight with the lighter shade.
This bronzer does the job very well. The powder is very very finely milled and doesn't flake off excess in the pan. Stayed on for the whole day without fading. Blended very well too, was easy to pick up. Best suited for Light tan skintones to medium skin tones. I am a mac NC30 & for me this works extremely well as an everyday bronzer. More warm tone than my Illamasqua Heroine & NYX Taupe bronzer for sure. I apply powder bronzers with an angled brush for a more precise & comfortable application. A blush brush would also do.
TIPS:
I personally think it all comes down to what you want to achieve in regards to BRONZING. I feel NATURAL LIGHT plays an important role in shade selection just like it does where foundation shade is concerned. Go out & see what undertone your skin is and what undertone will look good on you to enhance your features.
The second tip is to always 'build up' the intensity of the bronzer *unless you are a makeup maverick!*. For this i always blend the bronzer on my hand first & then go onto my face, after years of applying bronzer i still go in with caution as it takes lil to go from KimK to looking like a sun burned potato!
The third tip is to know where the light naturally hits your face (high points of your forehead, hallows of your cheeks, sides of your nose, under your lip & under your jaw line) because thats going to be the canvas for the bronze war paint!
I know it all sounds very overwhelming but trust me its all worth it in the end. Start by knowing your skin undertone.
