KAT VON D 'SHADE+LIGHT' CONTOUR PALETTE REVIEW+SWATCHES.

Hello beautiful! So over the past few weeks i am sure your IG feed and Facebook might have been bombarded with KAT VON D Beauty products pics when it was launched here in the UAE. I myself was one of 'those' people! I have already reviewed the Liquid Lipsticks & the Lock It Primer from this brand. One i love and the other not so much. Coming back to the product at hand this contouring palette has become my life! Like seriously this has been on my face everyday for this past month. So without further ado lets get on with the review.

Since its launch KVD has come out with another palette in the same product range catering to lighter skintones or something on those lines. The one we have here in the UAE is the original one. Its the original SHADE & LIGHT Palette and its AWESOME! Seriously i was hooked on and still am hooked with my Marc Jacobs Mirage hi-fi filter palette but this one is a game changer, i think partially its because of the fact that for the same amount of money we get 3 shades of highlights & bronzers each in this palette as compared to the MJ ones where we only get 1 shade each. The whole palette comprises of warm tone contour shades, the shades could have been more cooler in my opinion but these are the next best. For beginners yes this palette might be a bit too daunting but trust me the shades are really pretty and the powders very blendable.

The Highlight shades in this palette are not your traditional sheeny highlights but more on lines of the 'baking' trend in the Beauty community. Its got a beautiful Yellow Shade in it which is such a good alternative to the banana powder. The other 2 shades are also on the same lines but the first one is a pinkish-cream tone & the last one a peachy tone shade.

Lucid: its a pinky nude cream highlight shade with warm yellow undertones. Swatches really nicely and blends well too. This for me is more of a all over face powder and looks amazing. I know using a contour powder as a face powder is strange but this works for me beautifully.

Lyric: is your typical yellow banana powder. Its a beige yes but has a lot of yellow in it. So makes for an excellent brightening undereye powder. I have been using this constantly just for that. Does not crease up and looks beautiful. Again the powder is very silky and blends like a charm. Out of all the highlighting powders this one is my fav.

Levitation: is a mid tone warm peachy beige highlight. Best used as a skin corrector powder for dull & lackluster days. This one has a satin finish as compared to Lyric & lucid. Its a lil chalkier as compared to others but blends well, like all the other highlights really pigmented too.

Coming to the contouring shades, we again have 3 shades to choose from and the shades are perfect for everybody. Be it a MUA or a beginner. For a MUA this palette is perfect and for a beginner these are great shades to play with either on your cheeks like its made for or on your eyes too. These powders are mindblowing. The contour shades are:

Sombre: its a true taupe shade which is on the warmer side and has a almost matte finish. This shade is good for soft contouring on lazy days. Also works well as a blush because of its sheerness. Its pigmented yes but can be sheered out to just a faint blush. Its one of my fav shades to contour with.

Shadow Play: its a warm bronzy shade with golden undertones and a semi-satin finish. This one i usually use for bronzing up my face, it has more brown in it as compared to others so makes for a great warming up shade. The shade again wears well and looks amazing on lazy days for that instant bronzed look.

Subconscious: this is the most cool toned contour shade in this palette and is my fav of the lot. Its such a beautiful shadow shade, makes for the perfect shadow without looking over or cakey or artificial. It has a matte finish and blends really well.

There are a lot of things which are consistent in this palette, they all are pigmented, soft as hell and blend like a dream. None of the shades are chunky or patchy. Yes a lil chalkiness is there but nothing too damaging. All the shades wore well for the whole day, the contour shades did start fading off by the end though. A massive thumbs up from my end. Please do go and swatch this bby out if not buy, amazing quality for a great price.
